the tree of life
Saturday, January 17, 2009
heya, i'm new to this community, so bare with me (and my spelling), and forgive me if this isn't the right place for this.
i basically have a few questions regarding the tree of life as well as aleister crowely. basically, i don't have any of crowly's books as i'm broke as a joke and where i live, books of the sort are difficult to come by. but i've been looking online, and i was on Thelemapedia.org reading about the tree of life which all the correspondences and stuff have been taken out of crowely's 777. But ther's a few bits that are in question marks, such as the Devine name of Briah in the fourth sepheroth, Chesed.
I also don't understand what it means when it says "Lineal figures of the planets, &c., and geomancy". I can figure out what the lineal figures of the planets and geomancy are, but i don't kow what &c is. At firt i thought it was a typo, but it has it for each sepheroth.
I assume the book itself would have more information on these, but as i don't have access to it, i'm wonderin if any one might bbe able to shed some light on it for me, or at least direct me to some sites which might be able to.
also, regarding the tree of life, i have read in various things that each sepheroth also conatin another tree of life inside them, and i was wondering how to interperate each of those inner trees. i'm sure there's a whole mess of information which goes along with the answer to this question, but once again, i'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction is all.
thank you very much,a nd sorry if this isn't the right place for this.

7:45PM - On seven
That basic geometry, our week, the ancient egyptian measurement system, and both the books of Genesis and of Formation agree so warmly over the cosmic significance of mudane six leading to a divine seventh cannot be mere coincidence. On examination of these and other sources, alone without opinion, metaphor or cultural baggage is that of simple geometry. The Books of the Law are also the books of geometry, of maths, of circles. Our common inversion is to presume that geometry explains myth: that the myth is true somehow and the geometry not. Once our priesthood and our architects were one and the same, learning knew no subjects. Comprehension of the nature of circle, of hexagon, of equilateral triangle, square and rhombus: these are the fundament. Grasp π by her very radius with rusty compass and plane, and universe unfolds before you.
Like music, geometry admits no explaination, but how we have tried.
32 = 10 + (3 + (6 + 1) + 12)
No line, only circle. We flex.

5:51PM - 132 or 137
Just out of curiousity - for those who spell QBL (132) or KBLH (137) does the Gemetria significance play a part in this? If so, what relationships to other 132 ot 137 value Hebrew words do you find?
FYI: Simple numerology describes the former as a Perfect number (6), the latter as the first Master (11). Does this change the above or relate no purpose to the above for individuals?

If you do - where do you place the Aristolean Elements on your Tree? I've seen so many different systems, with varying logic behind them.
Tiferet - Fire
Hod - Air
Netzach - Water
Malchut - Earth
Netzach - Fire
Hod - Water
Yesod - Air
Malchut - Earth
Etc. I'm also interested in your reasons for doing this, be it path or author preference, logic, tradition, etc.

(cross posted to both) theqabalah and thekabbalah and others
I have noticed that many High magicians who practice quabalistic rituals, dont have any purely quabalistic holidays on their calendar. Usually they follow a Thelemic calendar (complete with celebration of Crowley's B day) or they follow the regular ceremonial/astrological calendar i.e.: solstices/ equinox etc, or they follow a loose Wicca based calendar (Mabon, Imbolc etc).
Does anyone know of any purely ceremonial quabalistic type celebrations or holidays? Do people celebrate the writing of the Zohar? or the supposed birthdays of luminaries like Regardie, Moses de Leon etc... or more likely do people just follow the Jewish calendar with special emphasis on certain holidays?
please educate us ..."not in the know folks"
oh yeah and if you have any quabalistic info, news, events discussions etc you want to discuss feel free to join and post in those two communities.

I posted this link to my LJ communities theqabalah and thekabbalah
Here is a link to audio files for those hard to pronounce hebrew god names and sephiroth names
I updated the "look" and the USER INFO page to both communities to make them more friendly and inviting.
If you are pagan hit the theqabalah community. It may suit you better.

3:35PM - hello
*crossposted to theqabalah *
Hello and welcome everyone. I have created this community to address a specific aspect of my hermetic magick "training" or studies. I am very interested in the "kabbalah" or "qabalah" ... however you want to spell it. I find that many hermetic and magick communities don’t address the kabbalah SPECIFICALLY, so I wanted to create an area where we can talk SPECIFICALLY about this system or philosophy.
Let me share with you a quandary that I am now trying to read about.
Recently, I was doing some meditation work on Geburah. (the sphere or sephiroth of severity or divine justice however you want to look at it). What bothered me was inside the vision I had a feeling of almost qlippothic energies. (qlippoth= chaos or shell spirits or demons if you will). I immediately stopped my meditation, but I am now actively looking for books that reference this "possible connection" or if there is a connection between the qlippoth and the sephiroth of Geburah.
Well maybe this post can start a discussion or you may want to post about something else. anyway, bright blessings.
